Oublier le monde qui se trouve autour de vous, projeter son esprit autre part. Wolves in the Throne Room a toujours eu une façon singulière de nous faire voir les choses sous un autre angle bien plus grand. Thrice Woven part en des temps immémoriaux dans laquelle la Nature est exaltée ("The Old Ones are With Us"), les mythes — nordiques ? — célébrés (qui d'autre que Anna von Hausswolff et sa voix magnifique pour faire ça ?) avec un black metal rapide qui s'inspire de la vague finlandaise.

Le son des pieds qui s'enfoncent dans la neige, un black metal atmosphérique qui s'abat comme une tempête de grêle et tranche la peau, des violons polaires : Roads To The North est aussi glacial qu'un album de Paysage d'Hiver (surtout Schnee). En tout cas au début. Panopticon nous invite en fait moins à une méditation statique qu'à une randonnée, une ascension jusqu'aux sommets. On y accède à pieds en surpassant la douleur, en train en profitant du folklore. C'est un grand parcours initiatique.

Descending Further into Nothingness

Après un Through Twilight... passable, Mort crée Descending Further into Nothingness sous le patronyme d'Exiled from Light, un album de DSBM lancinant aux atmosphères spectrales bien meilleur. Malgré tout, le démon de la stagnation continue de le harceler : la batterie est le grand point fort mais certains schémas se répètent et, couplés aux riffs minimalistes, ils empêchent certaines pistes de se distinguer l'une de l'autre. Le début est un peu long mais cet album en vaut vraiment la peine !
